Pola – skipper
Yesterday, I existed for six long hours
Today, the whip cracked
Until the pain was so great,
I forgot for a moment
That this, too, would be yet another Pyrrhic victory
Capture was certain
But even one furlong was enough
For Classic Brook,
My Pola – skipper
I cannot see the rider
But I know he is there,
Whenever I forget for a moment
That this, too, will be yet another Pyrrhic victory
Pola – skipper!
Six hours is too long
I delete myself in solidarity
Betten’s ‘Chemicals Cities’
In chemicals cities
My adversary still walks
What a time to be alive!
They let us go slow in chemicals cities
Miss appointments in chemicals cities
Take business calls
Just let me ‘castle in the air’ in chemicals cities
Anti-coquet in chemicals cities
A little while longer
I’ve already signed off

JD Beauvallet review of ‘Unsummering’ @ Les Inrocks
Available via Talitres
On October 20, new-yorked based vocalist Sharon Shy and musician Toppy aka R. Missing will release their debut mini-album “Unsummering” on Talitres.
“Unsummering”, the first release under their new moniker R. Missing, expands on The Ropes’ previous palette of Morrissey tinged lyrics and darkwave. It manages to be even more isolated lyrically than their famously nihilistic previous work, fully embracing complete detachment. Musically, fraught guitar and synth textures paint an image of an unstable world, held together only by tightly quantized electronic drum beats.
“Unsummering” available for pre-order (White Vinyl, Ltd Edition / Vinyl / CD / Digital) from the Talitres webstore.
“Mysterious darkwave entity R. Missing is making a case for shadowy alternative music that is infused with hazily deadpan female vocals, gleaming electronics, crisp beats, and noir synthesizer diffusion.”
